1999 Season Summary!
Captain Eddie Morrison is now beginning his thirteenth marlin season (that's gotta be lucky!!) here in St. Thomas. To date he has caught over 1000 blue marlins. The fantastic 1999 season produced 96 releases.
The Billfish Foundation honored Captain Eddie with the "Top Captain - Blue Marlin Release" award. In the prestigious USVI Open, he won "Top Local Captain".
Included in his totals were one release on a spinning rod and the "largest ever" at the time, tag and release on 20lb. tippet flyrod at approx.. 225 lbs. For those of you into flyfishing - this fish was "legitimately flyrod released" TWICE, the first time in less than 4 minutes, the second a few seconds later! It took an additional hour to get the fish in to tag it!
The fish was not killed due to a new Federal regulation restricting kills - for any reason, on blue marlin under 99" or approx.. 300lbs.
In the position of First Mate-we are excited to have Sean Williams of Antigua continuing on for yet another season. Our guests love him, we know you will too!
The 2000 season promises to be just as strong as 1999 - come be a part of the action!!! If you want to relax and enjoy the experience of big game fishing, we can do that. If you aspire to be a top angler, we can take you there!
