The stage for your inshore fishing adventure comprises one of North Americas unique and altogether exotic environments. You will discover endless sweeps of salt marsh, hidden creeks, blue-green bays and wild, forested islands on your journey, and carry home images of pelicans, osprey, egrets, and oyster shell beaches, as pristine and remote as a time when pirates and smugglers glided by them on the tides.

The waters wreathing this semi-tropical panorama team with redfish (spottail bass) the year round. April and May bring higher (spring) tides which carry feasts to redfish feeding in the flooding spartina grass flats. These tides provide access into these green realms by boat, or my favorite way, wading to the fish that seemingly beckon with waving tails. The hard-fighting Jack Crevalle abounds through the late summer months in Charleston Harbor, and speckled trout, flounder, bluefish, ladyfish, sheephead, black drum, spanish mackerel and numerous varieties of shark lurk as well.

By September schools of 25-100 redfish populate the shallow mud flats and the cooling waters also bring more schools of speckled trout. The experience of a striking redfish in one foot of water, and the journey home with Charleston's ancient steeples against the sky will be, I guarantee you, a memorable one.

Tall Tails Charters provides a smaller and more personalized fishing trip for 1-3 anglers. Charter prices range from $250 (4 hours), $350 (6 hours) respectively. We provide all tackle, bait, ice, licensing, and pictures if you desire; all our clients need to bring is a good attitude for a fun day of fishing in the low country. Clients can let the Captain know their beverage of preference when booking the trip, and it will be provided for them.

About The Boat & Equipment
"Tall Tails" is a BackCountry 161 Ghost, built in Sarasota Fla. Powered by a 90hp Mercury outboard, its shallow draft will allow us to explore and fish in grass flats that would otherwise be inaccessible.

We use Tibor fly reels by Ted Juracsik in the Everglades (8-9W), and Freestone (6-7W) models. When paired with the Sage RPLXi fly rod, this combination is a fly fisherman's dream to cast and dependable to fight the big one. Your preference may be to use our light tackle spinning gear: Finor and Shimano reels from 6-10#, and St. Croix rods fill the order. I can assure you what ever you prefer to use the fight will be exciting and memorable.
