Raised in Charleston, I have fished in the McClellanville, Georgetown and Charleston areas for over thirty years. You can enjoy fishing North Inlet, Winyah Bay, Cape Romain or Historic Charleston Harbor. I offer personalized charters, sight casting for Redfish, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish and Spanish Mackerel from Charleston to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I am a member of the CCA and, of course, a fully insured and U.S.C.G. Licensed Captain.

Redfish, Red Drum, Channel Bass, or Spottail, regardless of the name you prefer, this is one of the most sought
after inshore game fish in coastal South Carolina.

The waters in and around the Charleston, McClellanville, and Georgetown areas in particular have endless miles of shallow flats that hold sizable numbers of these renowned fish. As a result, the fly rodder and light tackle angler alike will experience some truly outstanding inshore shallow water fishing opportunities all year long.

The fall and winter months will offer the prime season for large schools of Redfish feeding on the shallow water mud flats. While both the size of the fish and the school will vary, it is not uncommon to see teeming schools sometimes consisting of as many as 100 fish. With the arrival of spring and warmer water the size of the schools will begin to reduce somewhat but the activity will continue throughout the year reaching a peak once again with the cooler fall weather.

It is the spring and summer months that anglers targeting these hard fighting fish now have the option of shifting their sights to the invigorating high tide flats of the spartina marsh grass. Here Redfish can be seen swimming, often with their backs out of the water, and tailing. Experience this activity by poling in the traditional manner with my Hewes skiff or enjoy wading the flats while we look for the distinctive telltale signs of tailing Redfish.

South Carolina offers year round opportunities for both the novice and experienced angler alike to enjoy a truly rewarding adventure --- Big Redfish in shallow water.
