Kite Fishing

The presence of Kite Fishing has been around since ancient China and is very popular in New Zealand and the South Pacific. More recently, kite fishing has emerged in U.S locations including Miami, and the Florida Keys. Fishing using kites provides an easy way to navigate shallow areas as well as coral reefs where fish are plentiful but would have been difficult to troll.

Kite fishing is a great alternative to drift fishing when conditions may be too windy for good bait presentation. Simply suspend live bait from the kite as it flies in the air. Many sailfish tournaments in Miami and the Florida Keys are won by kite fishing!

What equiptment is required for kite fishing? Obviously a kite is the first item you need in your Kite fishing kit. There is also kite reel, line, rod and release clips. The kite rod is designed to hold just the kite. You will have to use other rods for the bait. You can search for kite fishing supply stores online by clicking here.
